About
Amber Leigh Turner has been a self-employed designer and marketing consultant for nearly a decade, starting early in her collegiate career. As a design and marketing student at Austin Peay State University, she left her part-time prepress technician job after becoming interested in freelancing.
Working with clients one-on-one allowed Amber to gain valuable experience that is often only afforded to design students through internships. With this experience, she decided to chase her dream of owning a design firm and transform her part-time freelancing into a full-time design firm in January 2012 and named it January Creative.
With her education and experiences in both visual design and marketing, she brings a unique approach and insight to her clients’ projects to help them solve both their visual design needs and marketing goals. She has worked with numerous clients to create beautiful and effective designs that meet or exceed her clients’ business needs and expectations.
She has two professional degrees from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee: a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications with a focus in Graphic Design, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a minor in Management.
In addition to working with clients on their design needs, she also helps other self-employed creatives and freelancers succeed in their professional lives. She’s written “Student Freelancing 101: A Start-to-Finish Course to Becoming a Student Freelancer,” a book written like a college course designed for students who are interested in freelancing and a future career as a self-employed creative, and has written for several industry websites, including The Next Web.
